May 3, 2014 Investments

Gary and I met with our financial planner this week. We told him we were looking for an investment that paid a lot of interest and was guaranteed not to lose money. You should be laughing now because we all know that there’s no such thing. That’s why we’ve decided that the best thing to invest in is our grandchildren. Although not even this investment is guaranteed, we feel reasonably confident in it because the investment we made in our children has turned out very well.

What does this mean in practical terms? First it means spending time. We like to take the grandkids one at a time to form a special bond with each one. It also means spending money. We’ve started college funds for the kids, but also it means spending money here and now; buying memberships to the Seneca Park Zoo, the Strong Museum, Seabreeze. It means sending them to nursery school. It may mean paying for dance lessons or music lessons later on. Rochester is a community rich in educational opportunities for kids. We intend to take advantage of them.

Then we’ll just sit back and watch our investment grow.
