Day 49

I took my first outside walk this week, and it felt so good to be outside again. My friend, Pattie, had been reading my blog and invited me to walk with her on some beautiful, old country roads in Ontario, NY. These are places where you can still walk without worrying about cars or even people. We came upon some great old barns and an old stone foundation that we figured was a house or a barn at one time.

It was a Robert Frost kind of day. I was thinking “Mending Wall” but then I found this first verse of a Frost poem entitled “Ghost House.”

“I dwell in a lonely house I know

That vanished many a summer ago,

And left no trace but the cellar walls,

And a cellar in which the daylight falls,

And the purple-stemmed wild raspberries grow.”

Walking and poetry – a good combination.
