Day 42

Gary and I have a standing date every Friday morning. We take our trash and recyclables to the dump, and then we go out for breakfast. Life doesn’t get much better than this. ALPCO, on Rte 31F in Macedon, is just about the cleanest, neatest dump you will ever find. They even decorate for Christmas. We’ve been going there for years even though we had curbside pick-up. It was always easier to load our stuff into the car than to walk it down to the end of our long driveway and worry about the empty bin blowing into the road while we were at work.

ALPCO is very user friendly. You drive in, pick up your clipboard from the lady in the booth and then drive around the circle stopping off at whatever stations you need: recyclables, cans and bottles, or trash. Attendants will help you, and you never have to leave your car. You visit the lady in the booth again on the way out to pay. Trash costs 10 cents a pound. Not to brag, but we get the senior citizen discount (my husband does, not myself.) Of course, you get money back for your cans and bottles. That pays for coffee. Life is good in Wayne County.
