Day 27

Tonight I did a book talk at the West Irondequoit library. www.rochester.lib.ny.us/irondequoit/ What a busy place! People browsing bookshelves, people reading, people using computers, people sitting and talking. I’m feeling really grateful for everyone who braved the snow and cold to come and hear about some ghosts from Rochester past.

That’s the power of books. We all love stories, don’t we? Stories told orally, stories told on film, stories written in books. I’m reading a book right now by Helen Colijn called Song of Survival. It’s a true story of the author’s experience as a prisoner of war in the South Pacific during World War II. When you read about life under mosquito nets behind barbed wire, it makes you really appreciate life here in Western New York, even in January.

Why not step into a good book today?
