Whenever I’m heading to Greece (NY) or others parts West, I always take Lakeshore Blvd. It might not be the fastest way, but it’s definitely the most scenic. Even in the winter, when the lake’s partly frozen and the waves are fierce, just looking at the water makes me feel better. I don’t know why. […]

Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield is a good place to walk. Like it’s name suggests, it has rows of beautiful old oak trees. I find that comforting somehow. In this life, I prefer to spend my time in the sun, but I’m thinking that I wouldn’t mind spending eternity in the shade of one of those […]

It was a perfect weekend for the Gananda garage sales – not too hot and not enough rain to worry about. The Rotary has been organizing this event for 29 years now, and it’s still going strong. It fact, surrounding neighborhoods have started having garage sales the same weekend to take advantage of the traffic, […]

My new book got off to a great start at Simply New York Marketplace & Gifts. I can’t believe I didn’t get any pictures, but this is a great store that sells only items made in New York state. It’s just south of Seabreeze Amusement Park so it was the perfect location to show off […]

It’s the ultimate recycling – repurposing old buildings for […]

Since the forecast was for temperatures of 90 degrees, I got up early, took a walk in the neighborhood and had 5,000 steps by 9:00 am. I love it when that happens. The prettiest thing I saw on my walk today was this clump of irises. The name iris comes from the Greek word meaning rainbow. Supposedly […]

Tuesday is quilting day at church. We’ve finished with big quilts for the year, and started making bookbags. Like the quilts, these will go to Lutheran World Relief. We’ll fill them with school supplies like pencils, paper, rulers, and crayons, pack them up, and deliver them to Baltimore for distribution overseas. God’s work. Our hands. […]

We made our first trip to Longacre Farms tonight. Longacres is the local farm market that has a great corn maze later in the summer. Right now, the best reason to go is for ice cream and for a look at the goats. This little guy was just really determined to get something to eat. […]
