Day 235
Did you get a look at the sky today? It was a good day for naming cloud pictures. Maybe it’s because I’m soon to become a grandma, but this cloud looked to me like a baby lying on his stomach, lifting his head up and leaning on his hands. What do you see? Day 235: 11,806 […]

Day 234
I stumbled upon a new park today, all because I walked east instead of west on the towpath leading out of Fairport. I was headed back toward the village when a dirt side path caught my eye. I walked down it a few steps, but couldn’t see very far. I was intrigued and kept on […]

Day 233
Did you feel it? That first cool breeze of autumn. The air just felt different when I stepped outside this morning, and I wanted to breathe deeply. The Rose of Sharon has passed its peak, and if you look hard, you can see the red creeping into the leaves of the Burning Bush. As a […]

Day 232
I took a picture of this blue heron, while walking the canal path by Lock 32 on Thursday, and it got me thinking. I’ve never seen more than one blue heron at a time. You never see just one duck, or one goose or one seagull or even one turkey. They’re always in flocks, but […]

Day 230 Canal Lock 32
A funeral took me out to Pittsford today. My friend and colleague, Kathy Swingle, died way too young. Kathy had more than her share of suffering, combating heart disease, cancer and finally dementia. Her death was not totally unexpected, but heartbreaking nonetheless. Kathy was a good teacher, a loving wife and mother, and a worthy opponent when […]

Day 229
Today the town was giving the trees along the road in front of the school their back to school haircuts. They only took off the branches hanging over the sidewalk so they look like a little funny. Picture yourself with only one side of your head shaved. I guess it if it keeps the kids […]

Day 228 U of R
I had no trouble getting my steps in today. I went to the U of R library to do some family history research, and like most college campuses, the parking area is nowhere near the buildings. I think this was only the second time in my life I’d actually been on the U of R […]
