Since the forecast was for temperatures of 90 degrees, I got up early, took a walk in the neighborhood and had 5,000 steps by 9:00 am. I love it when that happens. The prettiest thing I saw on my walk today was this clump of irises. The name iris comes from the Greek word meaning rainbow. Supposedly they were given that name because they come in a multitude of colors although I think the purple ones are still the prettiest. My mother used to call them flags – I don’t know how they got that name.

So, iris, flag, makes no difference. I call them beautiful.
