In the fall of 2017, my grandson Evan, who was turning 6, lost his first tooth. The tooth was slow in falling out, which was a good thing, because it gave me time to make him this tooth fairy pillow. When it was time, Evan put his tooth into the little pocket behind the tooth applique on the pillow, and, sure enough, the tooth fairy came by that night and left him a little something in return for the tooth.
Being proactive, I decided that I would start making tooth fairy pillows for my other 4 grandchildren at the same time so that I would be prepared the next time one of the kids had a loose tooth. So I started 4 more pillows. Started and stopped. Started and stopped, until this past week when I finally completed the other pillows a little over a year since I first started this project.
Evan has gone on to lose 4 more teeth, and the tooth fairy has rewarded him each time.
None of the other grandkids even has a loose one, but we’re ready.
