After posting all those poems in April, I was taking a little blogging break. This week I started thinking that I should get back to it, but nothing seemed worth blogging about. Today I got my inspiration. I was at the Riverside Convention Center helping to set up the prayer room for the ELCA Synod Convention. It was a beautiful day, so afterward I decided to get in some steps walking around downtown. I had just stepped out of the Convention Center when I met a young man going in the opposite direction. As he passed by, he glanced at me and said, “Mama, you a good lookin’ old woman.” Needless to say, this man was not my son, and I am not his mama, but he had to be talking to me. We were the only two people in that particular area. My first reaction was to laugh out loud. Now that I’m home, I’m still laughing about it, but I’m also wondering – Was this a compliment or an insult? What do you think?
Either way it will make a great line for one of my books. Who can I have say that to Mrs. Levine?
And people wonder where writers get their idea.
