Are you a little bit tired of hearing and singing Christmas songs? As much as I like to sing Christmas carols, they don’t seem quite the same after Christmas as before. But, think about the purpose of Christmas carols. I believe that most were written as a way to tell the story of a God who loves us so much that He sent His son here to earth to dwell with us. They all highlight some part of that story. (Well, maybe not “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer,” but you get the idea.) I think we need to keep telling that story and singing that song all year long.
What about you? Do you have a story to tell, a story about your own life that your kids or your grandkids, or the world in general, needs to hear? I so regret not asking my grandmothers more questions about their youth. Why did they come to America? How did they feel when they left home? What was life like when they first got here? How did they meet my grandfathers?
What’s your story? I know you’ve got one. Will everyone want to hear it? No, of course not; but somebody does. So what are you waiting for? Start singing your song today. The world can never get enough music.
