I don’t think she meant it as a political statement, but my granddaughter, Molly, decided to start crawling today. Since she already stands, I don’t think walking will be far behind. Crawling and walking are huge steps (pun intended) in independence for a toddler. Kind of like a teenager getting a driver’s license. Molly’s world has certainly gotten a lot bigger all of a sudden.
Now, we all know that with independence comes responsibility and also danger, but I’d guess that Molly’s too young to understand that. While we cheered her first attempts at freedom, we’re also steeling ourselves for the inevitable bumps, bruises, and falls. So, I’m buying an extra box of Band-Aids. If only they made a Band-Aid for the heart.
