September 16, 2012 Women of Faith

I attended the Women of Faith conference at the War Memorial (Sorry, I just can’t call it by its other name) in downtown Rochester this weekend. It’s become a yearly event here and draws women from the Southern Tier, Canada, and even Pennsylvania. The whole conference was inspirational, but I have this one thought in particular lingering in my head:

“Don’t believe everything you think.”

The funny thing is that this line came from Andy Andrews, the only male speaker and in fact pretty much the only male in the crowd of 8,000 people.

I’m guessing that I’m not the only one who is prone to negative thoughts like:

 I’m ugly.
Nnobody understands me.
I can’t do anything right.

We can’t really control the negative thoughts that haunt us, but we can control how we react to them.
Like the man said,”Don’t believe everything you think.”
