I spent today at a Women of the ELCA convention at the Notre Dame Retreat Center in Canandaigua. The center is beautifully located on a bluff overlooking the lake. Besides the lake view there are colorful gardens and peaceful walking paths. The building itself has a big chapel and modern dining room, but spartanly furnished bedrooms and bathrooms. (Think college dorms.)

I was there help carry on church business and to share my books and stories about Rochester with women from all over New York State, and they shared their stories with me. I’m sure I got more than I gave. It’s funny how that always happens.
