This totem pole sits in front of the Old Forge library, just one of the signs that the creative arts are thriving in this interesting Adirondack town. In fact, they seem to be thriving in all of the Adirondacks. Maybe it’s the natural beauty that brings out the muse in everybody, but there are art shows, poetry readings, and musical performances going on all over. I was here for a writers’ workshop and authors’ fair. There were 16 of us selling our books under a big tent in the middle of town. A lot of the authors are self-published, and I came away with two things: everyone has a story to tell, and librarians are great guardians of those stories.
So, get busy and start writing your own story. There are people who want to hear your voice.
