Day 199 Mackeral Sky and Wizard of Clay

I had to go to Livonia today (my third funeral in 6 days) and I decided to take the long way home. I’d read about the Mackeral Sky bookstore in the newspaper and wanted to check it out. I love bookstores as much as I love books. This is a cute place with both new and used books and local art, and as of today they are selling my books. Hooray! It’s also right next door to the Red Coyote coffee shop. Both definitely worth making the trip for.

Then I moved right up Route 20A to the Wizard of Clay pottery store. This is another place that I’d heard about and been meaning to get to someday. I was worried about driving past it, but as you can see by the pictures, it’s impossible to miss this place. After all, how many geodesic domed buildings with giraffes sticking out the windows and wizards in the lawn do you see? The interior is equally intriguing. Following the yellow brick road takes you past racks of beautiful handmade pots, vases, bowls, lamps, picture frames, pitchers, plates, candle holders, and more. My favorite item was an owl whistle that you could make hoot.

Another place definitely worth the trip just to look, but also the place to buy if you’re looking for a one of a kind gift.

Unfortunately, I spent too much time sitting in the car to get in all my steps.
