December 21, 2012

I was waiting very impatiently in the drive-thru line at the bank this morning at 9:30. I couldn’t understand what was taking the guy ahead of me so long. But in an instant my perspective totally changed. I had my radio on 101.3, and I heard Tony say, “We’ll now be observing a moment of silence in memory of the children of Sandy Hook Elementary School.”  This was followed by a beautiful instrumental version of Silent Night. I closed my eyes and forgot about the bank, the guy ahead of me in line, and everything else. Yes, right there in my car in the bank drive-thru, I experienced a holy moment.

Isn’t that so typical of God? He sent Love into a dirty world, in a stinking manger, and he continues to be with us in our heartbreak, our sorrow, and our fear. “Oh, come, oh, come, Emmanuel.”

Merry Christmas!
