I didn’t see any butterflies on the Butterfly Trail this week, but I really didn’t expect to at this time of year. I’d been meaning to check out this new trail in Macedon for a few weeks, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. The trail is in a beautiful spot along the Erie Canal at lock 30 (access from Rte. 350).
There is an abundance of natural vegetation, but the trail designers have planted a few butterfly bushes along with some wooden benches. I’m anxious to come back in the spring to see how the bushes have transformed the space. Maybe some meditating on one of the benches will bring about some personal transformation as well. As the sign says, isn’t that what butterflies are all about?
