April 1, 2012 Missed Photo Ops

I came home with a few new photos from my month in Florida, like this one of Evan meeting Tigger,

but I found that the most awesome sights of my trip were unphotographable, especially by an amateur like me. For example, after an early morning rain, I saw the most beautiful rainbow (is there ever an ugly rainbow?) over the ocean. Here are my feeble attempts to photograph it.

I could get the left side or the right side, but not the whole rainbow altogether.

Ditto the school of dolphins playing in the ocean directly in front of me. There are no glasses made that would help you figure out what that picture was.

The good thing was that after awhile I gave up the need to photograph the special things I saw and just live in the moment and enjoy. Every night I could see Venus and Jupiter outshining everything else in the western sky. And on one of the nights I was outside looking at the planets, I swear I saw a shooting star. Then there was the flying fish and the blue heron sleeping in a tree. These are all now just recorded in my memory under the album entitled “Thank you, Jesus.”
