I’m a roller coaster fan, and most of my favorite coasters are at WDW. Today I went on Expedition Everest. It has a great uphill climb, where you feel like you’re going to fall out the back. Then it stops abruptly when the track ends in a mangled mess. After a few scary moments, it starts twisting and turning back downhill in the dark. It’s a great thrill ride.
Disney coasters aren’t necessarily the fastest coasters or the highest or the ones with the most upside down loops. What distinguishes them from all the other coasters is that they all have a story to go along with the ride. When you ride Expediton Everest you really feel like you’re in the Himalayas on the lookout for Yeti. When you’re on Splash Mountain, you feel like you’re in the briar patch with brer rabbit. And when you’re on Space Mountain, you feel like you’re soaring through space.
And that’s why my all-time favorite roller coaster is the Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze. It doesn’t have a story in the sense of the Disney coasters, but it has the story of the people of Rochester.
Happy Landings!
