Day 277 Lewisburg, PA

Gary and I took a little getaway to Lewisburg, PA. The drive is under 4 hours, scenic but not tiring – and we like to stay at the Country Cupboard motel right on Rte. 15. The Country Cupboard is a comfortable place (not posh) with a great breakfast included. The sticky buns are to die for. But the best part of the motel is all the gift shops that are attached. Even if the weather is bad you can spend hours just walking around indoors and looking at all kinds of clothes, country decor, holiday decorations, and gardening paraphenalia. If the weather is good, there are outdoor walking paths around gardens and ponds. There’s a restuarant with Pennsylvania Dutch specialties, but we like to eat in the Lewisburg Hotel, an old establishment down the street in the village of Lewisburg. The inside looks just like you’d expect an old hotel to look like, with a big fireplace, high ceilings, chandeliers, and wallpaper.  A good place to recover after all that shopping.
