The Pines of Peace is a hospice on Ridge Rd. in Ontario, NY where my mother-in-law spent the last five weeks of her life in 2005.  The Pines is a wonderful place where Violet (and the rest of us) received loving care. Today I was able to attend a benefit luncheon and auction for the Pines at the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club. Carol Ritter Wright was the auctioneer, and she always interweaves the auctioning with interesting personal stories and anecdotes. It was a beautiful day, and the drive out to Sodus along the lake with the cherry and apple trees in blossom added to the festivities. And the tranquility of the beach at Sodus Point (pictured here) mirrored the peacefulness of the hospice.

The world may be at war, but here in Rochester/Ontario/Sodus for a few hours at least, all was right with the world.
