Day 17

I had an appointment with a new doctor today. I had been told that his office was on the second floor, so when I stepped into the office building, I immediately started looking for the stairs. I thought I would get in some extra steps without really trying. On my left was a big office, […]

Day 16

Today I had the best experience an author can have. I went to GEVA to see “I’ll be Geneseeing You” and saw my books for sale in the lobby giftshop. I didn’t know they were there, and it was quite an unexpected thrill. The show, a spoof of Rochester by The Second City, was really […]

Day 15

THIS is why I need to walk 11,000 steps a day.   If you are what you eat, then I’m a hot fudge sundae with mint chocolate chip ice cream and whipped cream and a cherry. I got hooked on them when I was a college student working at Friendly’s, and I hate to tell you […]

Day 14

I managed to just make my 11,000 steps today without going to the gym. All it took was dusting, vacuuming, mopping, changing the sheets, cleaning the bathrooms, doing laundry and going grocery shopping. It would have been easier to use the treadmill for 45 minutes. Day 14: 11,001 Steps  YTD: 115,346 Steps  Goal: 132,000 Steps

Day 11

I spent some time walking the halls of Strong Hospital today. What a place! The minute you step into the lobby, you are greeted with the smell of flavored coffee and the sound of piano music. And people – people coming and going, sitting and standing, talking and laughing. I’ve been trying to think of […]

Day 10

When you’re cursing the lake effect snow, remember that our proximity to the lake is what gives us those cherries and apples that grow so well in Western New York. A mixed blessing. Have you noticed how apple trees are getting smaller these days? The first time I saw a new orchard I thought it […]

Day 9

Today is Sunday, so I’m not logging steps, but I am logging years. My church, Bethlehem Lutheran in Penfield, is 135 years old today.                                        In 1876 a group of German immigrants stepped out in faith to form a church. In 1878, when the church building was completed, they processed down Plank Rd. to the new […]

Day 8

Finally got all the Christmas decorations put away. At least all those trips up and down the basement stairs added up the steps, although it seems that steps on stairs should count double. I was reminded again of the 2 laws of Christmas UNdecorating. 1. After you swear you’ve taken all the ornaments off the […]
